Hamba Lulu

Recorded - 2007

Cantate's latest CD is now available. It contains high quality live recordings of Cantate Senior Choir, Youth Choir and Chamber Choir in competitions and concert performances during 2007.

First there is Gregson's Gloria, and I Once Loved a Lass recorded during the 2007 Llangollen International Eisteddfod, in which we came second in the youth choir category. The remainder of the pieces were recorded during Cantate's July 2007 Thaxted Festival appearance: Bob Chilcott's Missa Cantate, excerpts from Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man, Chasm by Graham Instrall, and finally the title track, Hamba Lulu.

The CD is a marvellous memento of a great year for Cantate.

"A lovely programme, splendidly sung. The young men sing so well, bucking the trend there! I can hear every word, never more deliciously so than in the Candlelight Carol. Congratulations all round!"

The African folk music, mostly rhythmic and infectious, and sacred music including two beautiful settings of Ave Maria by Gounod and Biebl, alongside Bach's famous Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Pie Jesu.
